Job Summary:

The Associate Director for Academic Coaching is responsible for overseeing and managing the academic coaching program within the Academic Success Center. This role involves providing leadership, guidance, and support to a team of academic coaches and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the success of the program and its varied initiatives. The primary focus of the Associate Director is to enhance students' academic performance and promote overall success and retention.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Program Management: Developing, implementing, and managing the overall academic coaching program, including setting goals, creating strategies, and establishing program policies and procedures.


  • Team Leadership: Supervising and supporting a team of academic coaches, providing training, guidance, and ongoing professional development opportunities. Assigning coaching caseloads and monitoring progress.


  • Program Evaluation: Working with Business Analytics Analyst I to collect, analyze, and present data on program outcomes, student satisfaction, and effectiveness of coaching interventions. Making data-driven decisions to improve the program and achieve desired outcomes.


  • Collaboration and Outreach: Building strong relationships with faculty, staff, and other academic support services to build a coordinated and holistic approach to student success. Collaborating on initiatives related to student retention, academic advising, and student engagement.


  • Resource Development: Oversee the creation and maintenance of resources, tools, and materials to support academic coaching initiatives, the development of workshops, seminars, or online modules to address common academic challenges and promote student success.


  • Administrative Duties: Managing administrative tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and record keeping. Maintaining accurate documentation of coaching sessions and student progress.


  • Stay Current: Remain well-informed of research, best practices, and emerging trends in academic coaching, student success, and higher education. Incorporate new ideas and strategies into the program to enhance its effectiveness.

  • All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field with three (3) years of experience in higher education (developing, coordinating, and implementing activities, programs, services, and events contributing to student success) or the equivalent experience.

  • Experience with retention and supervising professional staff.

  • Evidence/experience of successful collaboration to achieve project goals, strong organizational and leadership skills.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certified Coaching training preferred.

  • Master's degree in education, leadership, student support, counseling, or a related field. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

  • Five (5) years of higher education work experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to research and design coaching curricula, strategies, and programs.

  • Experience in working collaboratively with advisors, faculty, and a broad range of stakeholders to improve student success.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
