Job Summary:

Provides accounting support for the College of Engineering Dean's Office, which includes a number of organizational processes such as reconciling statements, analyzing reports, processing transfers, and monitoring cost centers and projects. This position requires the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgement, including working effectively with all levels of staff, faculty and administration.


Salary is commensurate with experience starting at a minimum of $52,000.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Utilizes budget status reports and faculty/staff reports to review the expenses and balances of departmental cost centers.

  • Works closely with Dean's Office financial team and departmental personnel in many aspects.

  • Is a valuable member of the finance team who works on annual budget in EPM.

  • Manages reconciliation of statements for cost centers and projects in Sahara for the Dean of Engineering.

  • Follows up and resolves any discrepancies by running and reviewing financial reports and maintaining any necessary documents.

  • Performs various accounting functions, submits fund transfers, produces monthly reports, and provides analysis of College's financial commitments and projections.

  • Performs monthly ProCard reconciliation for the Dean's Office. Downloads statements, communicates, and ensures all support follows UTA policy.

  • Assists ProCard holders with resolving any requests from disbursement office.

  • Ensures Teams folders are updated.

  • Monitors and analyzes multiple spreadsheets of departmental expenditures for specific funding under College of Engineering and works closely with departments to ensure guidelines are followed. Includes Lockheed Martin project allocations for DOE and departments, monthly gift reports, faculty search expenses, ABET expenses, REU expense by faculty.

  • Travel supplements for students, deposit logs, key logs, and summer appointments.

  • Reconciles expenditures with allocations.

  • Assists with processing eForms, scholarship disbursements, requisitions/ purchase orders, travel authorizations, expense reports and vouchers.

  • Reviews all types of new cost center requests for departments under College of Engineering (CoE). Researches and resolves any issues or questions asked during the process.

  • Maintains current data of submitted and approved cost centers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience in accounting.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Accounting-related experience and knowledge of projects.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or UTShare.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to be flexible to the needs of the office.

  • Average to above average knowledge of Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and to address financial issues with departmental staff.

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
