Overview:Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Senior Superintendent of Building Services. This position will plan, supervise, and direct 'best in class' service in all phases of building and cleaning services related to the Mount Carmel campus and ancillary properties (est. 1.4 million square feet); which includes all custodial services in the Mount Carmel residence halls including scheduling, trash removal, cleaning of flooring, public spaces, restrooms, hallways, and stairwells. Responsible for all building services in all Mount Carmel buildings and ancillary properties including scheduling, general maintenance and repair, building upgrades, and carpentry work. Effectively manage and optimize production of a staff of maintenance supervisor, custodians, general mechanics, plumber as well as other employees as assigned by the Director of Facilities Operations at the Mount Carmel campus.About Quinnipiac:Quinnipiac University is a private, coeducational institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. Responsible for general maintenance, preventative maintenance scheduling, and code compliance related to building repairs on the Mount Camel campus and ancillary properties including the timely response and resolution to work requests through the University's Computerized Maintenance Management System to work requests of students, faculty and staff while ensuring a safe environment by maintaining high university standards.
Responsible for cleaning services in the residence hall areas including daily schedules and building turnover for the new academic year.
Responsible for providing a strong sense of community with excellent customer service and relationships (particularly the Office of Residential Life and Admissions) while maintaining the buildings to promote an atmosphere which further fosters student achievement; ensuring that the community's needs and expectations for such services are met.
Responsible for the assessment, development, communication, documentation, and implementation of daily and long-term building services work plan of action including minor renovations and capital improvements.
Responsible for the procurement and inventory of all building services materials and equipment.
Work toward the reduction of harmful cleaning chemicals while working in the direction of more environmentally friendly campuses.
Responsible for the standardization of systems/services in the capital planning process.
This position is considered essential personnel and will have off shift responsibilities based generally upon weather events.
Education Requirements:
Vocational or technical training required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Qualifications:
10 years building maintenance and cleaning services experience required.
Experience with providing excellent customer service and fostering a sense of community.
Good interpersonal and oral/written communications skills.
Proven managerial, fiscal, and organizational ability required; managerial experience in a union environment is preferred.
Valid CT driver's license.
Competency with Windows based platform; a working knowledge of work request systems and project management systems.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
