Role description:

Arcadis is looking for an experienced Water Modeler, to join our Resilience Water Team!

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team locally with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. This position will utilize professional experience and technical knowledge of hydraulics, water distribution master planning, and computer modeling, combined with data analytics as part of our local project teams developing innovative solutions throughout the nation. This is an excellent opportunity with high potential for growth, including leading and executing tasks and projects, mentoring junior staff, and developing project pursuits and opportunities.

Role accountabilities:

This role will apply leadership skills and expertise in all aspects of developing water distribution system models and water system master plans to support technical project teams. Additionally, this role will perform engineering activities for water distribution hydraulics, including pumping evaluations, flow test studies, water quality investigations, system planning, hydraulic and water quality model development, master plans and feasibility studies.

Other responsibilities include:


  • Assist with distribution system analysis through the development and application of hydraulic models for water distribution systems
  • Understanding and application of data analytics and GIS to support projects.
  • Provide technical expertise on existing and new design through modeling projects.
  • Develop and review technical reports for projects, including technical project report organization, authoring, and coordination.
  • Develop and lead client presentations of work progress and collaboration across a wide range of client roles.
  • Assist others with defining scope of work and objectives and developing pursuits through a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements.
  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.
  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by having regular participation with industry Association's, attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.
  • Exercises independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Ensures project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.
  • Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, and other reasons depending on project staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 years water experience.
  • Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field of study.
  • EIT or PE License.

Key Skills/Attributes

  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water systems. (Autodesk InfoWater Pro and/or Bentley WaterGEMS experience preferred).
  • GIS experience using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; public speaking/presenting, effective communication with team members, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field of study.
  • PE License.
  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
  • Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality, or other closely related work
  • Other related modeling experience (e.g. InfoWorks WS).
  • Programming using Python or equivalent languages.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $70,800 - $106,200. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
