MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY
Located in southern Virginia near the North Carolina border, Martinsville Speedway was built in 1947 by its founder H. Clay Earles. The track is the only venue to host NASCAR's top series every year since its inception. Martinsville Speedway conducts three major race event weekends each year. The track annually hosts the NASCAR Cup Series races in the spring and in the fall, the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the fall, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the fall, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series race in spring, and the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious Late Model Stock Car race.
Martinsville Speedway seeks a positive, motivated, organized individual looking to lead one of the hardest driving sales teams in sports. The Group Sales Manager is tasked with leading and driving ticket revenue.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build and lead Group Sales team at the track location
Lead by example, selling group sales programs
Work with track leadership to identify new group sales opportunities in market
Establish active communication and engagement with existing and new group sales accounts
Develop relationships across track departments to ensure ongoing collaboration and success
Develop strong relationships with local colleges/universities for recruiting opportunities
Interview, hire, and train employees. Coach, provide guidance, develop and/or discipline employees
Meet and exceed both individual and overall team yearly sales goals
Compile reports and prepare presentations for track and corporate leadership
Create, partner and execute group experiences at the track
Be on-site for race weekends to help the team execute all of their group sales initiatives
Assist with fan experiences or other race day operations as needed
Position may require occasional travel
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum two (2) years of sales experience, preferably in a sports sales environment
Prior experience in a group sales environment preferred
Prior experience leading a team
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous CRM Platform experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) skills required
Attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with employees, clients, officers, and peers in a professional manner
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
Strong collaboration skills
Passion for building and guiding the sales process
Must have a valid driver's license
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, use hands to feel and handle, ability to lift 20 pounds and see including close vision
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays and extended numbers of days. (Race events)
