SUMMARY:   

This position will perform multiple tasks related to production and sanitation with the intent to primarily work in production and when needed also perform tasks related to sanitation.

PRIMARY JOB SCOPE (PRODUCTION):

This position contains several duties throughout the packing facility, Stacking, lifting, dumping raw materials, picking up raw materials from the floor, cleaning, working in wet areas for a long period of time, packing, and/or sorting. Tasks and duties include loading product, monitoring and manipulating materials at various stages of processing; filling various sized containers; and preparing product for shipment.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  


  • Separate and stack packed boxes 

  • Setup and prepare pallets to stack packed boxes on 

  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using pallet jack. 

  • Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected; notify supervisors or operators of any malfunctions or safety concerns. 

  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards. 

  • Immediately notify supervisor of any process deviations from specification or any contamination of product. 

  • Maintain a clean work area, free of safety hazards 

  • Picking up raw materials, finish product from the floor 

  • Dumping raw materials 

  • Ability to communicate and work well with others 

  • Perform repetitive functions paying attention to detail 

  • Ability to work with and around water for a long period of time 

  • Perform all assigned duties in a proper and timely manner 

  • Cooperate with supervisors and managers and ensure compliance with all Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 

  • Ability to follow and obey management instruction 

  • Any other duties assigned 

  

SECONDARY JOB SCOPE (SANITATION):

Work as part of the sanitation cleaning crew whose duties are to clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing areas of the plant, to meet Quality Control and Bacterial Standards delineated within Growers Express Safety and Quality Management system. Members of the Sanitation crew are required to completely clean and sanitize the plant quickly and efficiently during relatively short time periods between the plant's normal production shifts, which typically requires that the sanitation worker work during late evenings/night/early morning shifts (specific work shift to be determined by the supervisor), and some overtime (weekends, days, evenings). The sanitation worker will also be working around large processing equipment in which chemicals will be used to complete the sanitation process. The sanitation worker must be able to work as a team along with other members of the crew, under stressful conditions, and be flexible and willing to perform varying tasks per the Sanitation Lead’s instructions and in accordance with all safety guidelines mandated by the employer.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:


  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety policies.

  • Follow PPE practice when handling chemicals and using compressed air if applicable.

  • Performing Good Sanitation Practices (GSP’s) when handling and working with or around equipment.

  • Ensure all chemicals are used at proper concentrations by analysis of cleaner strengths on CIP 75 and sanitizers used during the sanitation process in a safe manner

  • Reporting equipment that is damaged, shows wear, or needs replacement to a Supervisor or Team Leader.

  • Follow all company SSOPs to clean and sanitize processing equipment and processing facilities.

  • Prevent cross contamination of product, work-in-progress, food contact surfaces and food contact

packaging during sanitation procedures.


  • Follow FSQ requirements such as GMP’s and other daily job specific duties to support QRMP

  • Complete all sanitation and required SQF documentation.

  • Maintain all sanitation related equipment including but not limited to foamers, pressure washers, cleaning equipment and tools.

  • Other duties as assigned

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as standing/walking, crouching, stooping, twisting, balancing, leg/foot use, reaching, overhead extension, handling, pushing/pulling, climbing.   lifting and handling of materials and packed boxes. 

  • Job require working indoors inn a fast-paced setting. 

  • Working in constant cold temperature +- 34°F 

  • Environment has constant noise, forklift and electric pallet jack activity, wet/damp floors, and moving belts.

  • Attention to keeping foreign objects off belts is required safety factors 

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the day

  • Pushing and pulling pallet jacks.

  • Willing and able to work long hours and be available nights and/or weekends as required by the business needs. 

When working in sanitation,


  • Work environment is wet

  • Working exposed to cleaning chemicals 

  • Willing and able to work long hours and be available nights and/or weekends as required by the business needs. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:    

  • Proper PPE (hair restrains, bump cap, safety eye protection, chemical resistant gloves, rubber boots, water repellant jacket and overalls, face shield).   

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:


  • High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required

  • Previous experience performing sanitation work not required but preferred.
