Manage and/or execute all packaging activities for materials, process, design/re-design, equipment and/or validation while exploring cost savings, standardization and efficiency opportunities.
The Package Engineer will support and/or lead packaging project(s) involving commercial products to support business requirements. Description:
Actively participate on project teams to lead all packaging activities
Conceptualization of initial design options, execution of design, select, and modifications of packaging
Direct and lead selection of appropriate packaging equipment to meet packaging design and material requirements
Development and commercialization of new products and/or line extensions
Convert customer/Regulatory/Marketing need(s) into new product concept solutions.
Develops prototypes of concepts and subcomponent mechanisms
Designs and develops tooling and fixturing required to support commercial products
Lead design concepts and analysis techniques, including but not limited to:
AutoCAD/ArtiosCAD, Solidworks
Failure Mode Analysis
QA/Root Cause Analysis
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)/Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Finite Element Analysis & modeling
Geometric Dimensioning/TOPS or CAPE
Statistical Analysis &Tolerancing & Stack Up Analysis
Lead vendors and customers to identify appropriate materials and components to meet packaging requirements
Analyzes concepts to ensure that the specifications (Package Performance Specifications) meet the customer, Marketing, and/or Regulatory requirements
Ability with design details to ensure manufacturability; accurate dimensioning and tolerances stack-up analysis. Provide direction to modifications as the need arises
Write testing protocols. Lead appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with existing policies and procedures (Divisions, Corporate, and Regulatory compliance)
Basic Qualifications:
Proven ability to design and lead innovative packaging systems mechanisms
Experience with TOPS/CAPE and various statistical software packages
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project for high level of written and communication skills
Education and Qualifications:
BS in Packaging Engineering or related field of study preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of experience or based upon experience
Medical device and/or pharmaceutical experience a plus
Drawing experience and proficiency preferred (Artios/Auto CAD, Solidworks, ect)
Project management preferred
Manufacturing site exposure a plus
Experience with ISO 11607 a plus
Prototype generation experience a plus
People management a plus
Experience with Sterilization a plus
Spanish Language skills a plus
