Responsibilities
This position reports to the Senior Utility Coordinator and works with Project Managers, Engineers, and Technicians to provide assistance, technical support, and coordination for utility adjustment efforts to resolve design conflicts with utilities impacted by projects associated with the Department of Transportation (DOT) throughout the region. Works directly with the DOT’s assigned contact and/or Prime firm PMs. These projects include, utility coordination associated with maintenance, rehabilitation, improvements and reconstruction of ongoing projects for the DOT.
Attend project scoping meetings with a Senior Utility Coordinator and/or the Utility Coordination Manager and provide input and recommendations relative to utilities
Provide Senior Utility Coordinator and/or Utility Coordination Manager with project details to assist with the development of scope and fee proposals
Responsible for the coordination of utility adjustment process for roadway and utility improvement projects
Determination of Utility Conflict and conflict resolution using Subsurface Utility Engineering data and design plans
Preparation and submission of Utility Agreement Assemblies
Receipt and review of utility relocation plans to ensure that such materials are constructible, do not pose conflicts with other utility relocations, accommodate the project and adhere to DOT requirements
Schedule and conduct utility meetings
Preparation of meeting minutes, reports and other documentation as needed to support utility coordination; review of documentation prepared by Utility Coordinators I or II
Reviewing and documenting the progress of the permitting and relocation efforts
Manage project budgets and provide regular project status and budget reports
Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals
Qualifications
2 + years’ experience in preparing agreements for relocating utilities in accordance to local, state and federal utility accommodation processes and practices
2 + years’ experience as a utility coordinator on state DOT projects or comparable experience working for utility companies
2 + years’ managing project budgets
Design Build experience a plus
Microstation/AutoCAD skills a plus
Must be able to demonstrate strong negotiation skills
Supervisory experience of projects and personnel preferred
Engineering degree or Professional Engineer license a plus
