Role


Responsible for the day-to-day activities of an assigned field team of fiber placement technicians.  This team will be using a proprietary placement method and will be responsible for completing the construction and maintenance of this method. The position will support the Manager of Fiber Construction and work across other fiber construction teams within the area, as well as provide support to Crown Castle cross-functional teams to improve the quality of processes, deliverables, and the end-to-end customer experience.  Each fiber construction team is expected to maintain open communication across all areas of the business and work as a unit with consistency while building, implementing, and restoring or maintaining services; cognizant of fostering the vision and values of Crown Castle.  This position is accountable for their assigned team and area for delivering KPIs including but not limited to OpEx spend, MTTR, % On-Time Install, fiber complete for small cell, and installed enterprise revenue.


Responsibilities         



  • Supervise while on site a field team of Fiber technicians in support of the assigned area of responsibility for construction demands, Cap and OpEx management, as well as KPIs.

  • Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Construction for communication with the NOC, Engineering, Field Operations, and Change management teams.

  • Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Construction to monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of deliverables and supporting workflows in order to measure operational performance, as well as, identify and assess areas of opportunity for improved process efficiencies and performance

  • Maintain knowledge of technology in use, and/or under development for its impact or potential impact on the operational business process.

  • Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Construction for the assigned areas respective CAPEX and OPEX spend and budgets

  • Maintain quality service by understanding and enforcing organization standards

  • Develop and coach fiber construction team, while being the foreman on site. Identify training gaps and create a career path for team members.

  • Guide team in all safety practices and have acquired completion of OSHA 30.

  • Supervise a team to provide necessary network maintenance support 24 hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year

  • Schedule and prioritize the workload of the fiber construction and external vendor resources within an assigned area

  • Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Construction in partnerships with utility and municipal providers to streamline permit application, process, and initiatives such as the FCC’s One Touch Make-Ready program.

  • Supervise team for the purposes of (including but not limited to)

  • Initial construction reviews in accordance with project specifications.

  • Oversee site construction, managing schedule, and resources on all projects

  • Ensure that all jobs are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy.

  • Coordination of all permitting and licensing activities.

  • Development of permit and construction plans

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Crown Castle construction standards, processes, and procedures. Act as a key contributor to continued growth and improvement in each of these.                                                               


Education/Certifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • OSHA 30 required.

  • B.S. in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction related field or equivalent work experience preferred

  • A valid driver’s license required                                                        


Experience/Minimum Requirements


  • Three (3)+ years construction experience, at least three (3) years direct telecommunications experience or equivalent work experience required. At least two (2) years of supervisory contractor construction experience required, three (3)+ years preferred.

  • 1 year of experience performing (or equivalent work experience):

    • Direct supervision/management of employees

    • Fiber engineering design, splicing and/or construction implementation experience



  • Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground)

  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards

  • Knowledge of CDL Class A requirements with the 10,000 and 26,0001+ GMVW space

  • Knowledge of CDL processes including logs, driver requirements, etc.

  • Competency in the transport of heavy machinery, including towing, rigging, and securing equipment

  • Skid Steer Training

  • Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground)

  • Fiber engineering design, splicing and/or construction implementation experience

  • Recording and editing fiber construction as-builts

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint) skills

  • First Aid/CPR/ AED

  • Position must be available for emergency support on a 24-hour X 7-day basis

    Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): Equipment Operators, Deployment Integration (Fiber) Technicians


    Working Conditions: Could be required to travel to project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions up to 100% of the time. Works in the field and may experience exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

    Reports to: Manager Network Construction, District Manager, District Director



    Title(s) of direct reports (if applicable): Equipment Operator, Deployment Technician, Warehouse Operator

    Working Conditions: Required to travel to project sites with exposure to heavy equipment and environmental conditions up to 80% of the time. To include long term deployments with overnight stays. Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions the remaining 20% of the time.
