Job Summary

Assist electrician in planning, lay-out, installation, testing, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment, and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

  • High proficiency in all related trade mathematics.
  • Inspect work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies, and take any necessary corrective action.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Develop high proficiency, safety, and quality in the electrical field.
  • Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform tasks.
  • Follow safety codes and building regulations. Ensure all work is completed safely .
  • Maintain records and work logs.
  • Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Assist electricians with installing and maintaining electrical systems, including wiring, conduit installation, and panel upgrades.
  • Support pulling wire, bending conduit, and performing basic wiring tasks in compliance with local electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Help install electrical fixtures, equipment, and appliances such as lighting, outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, properly storing tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Participate in safety meetings and other learning opportunities, staying current on industry codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Must have the mind set to gain experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have a general understanding of the electrical trade.
  • Eager to learn new skills and techniques, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in the electrical trade.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must attend all classroom training on and off the project site.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations (OSHA standards is a plus).
  • Learn basic knowledge of electrical systems and tools.

  • Minimum Job Requirements
  • NCCER Core Curriculum and /or a High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

    Physical Requirements

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • The ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for using tools and handling electrical components.
  • Must have good vision and hearing to detect potential hazards in a construction environment.
