Medtronic's Neuromodulation/Pelvic Health organization is hiring a Process Engineer to join their onsite team in Fridley, Minnesota.

Location: Rice Creek, Minnesota

Ability to travel up to: 25% (domestic or international)

NPI (New Product Introduction) Program Manager / Core Team Operations Representative (CTOR) is the primary Operations interface to the NPI Core team. This is a highly visible and impactful role in the operations network and to the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health business unit of Medtronic's Neurosciences Operating Unit. The CTOR will lead cross-functional extended teams and is responsible for value stream selection, planning, execution, and implementation of new products into manufacture.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:


  • Defining and Managing Operations Project metrics and Motivating teams to achieve:
    • Predicted product costs, line yields, installed capacity, process and component capability, risk burndown.


  • Generating Design Transfer Deliverables (Plans and Reports)

  • Working with Stakeholders to set Manufacturing Strategies including:

    • Manufacturing Site Selection

    • Distribution Strategies

    • Contract Manufacturing Statement of work

    • Capacity Analysis

    • Capital

    • Manufacturing Process Validation Planning/Strategy

    • Equipment Supplier Selection

    • Pilot Lines/scale up requirements (as needed by program)



  • Establishing operations development plans (budget, schedule, interdependencies with other Core Team and extended operations functions)

  • Lead the Extended Operations Team to ensure on-time and on-budget performance through the new product development cycle.

  • Follow compliance processes for New Product Development

  • Execute pre-established Operations Strategies.

COMMUNICATIONS & INFLUENCE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Serve as the "Voice of Operations" within the Product Development Team

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to ask critical questions without being the subject matter expert

  • Ensure scope, cost, resource and schedule alignment between operations and core team functions

  • Ensure structured problem methods and predictive engineering principles are consistently and rigorously applied, such as Design for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, DFMA, DRM, FTQ or similar concepts.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:


  • Autonomy: PD Program Manager in the CTOR role is responsible for medium to larger scale programs. A successful candidate will need to bring clarity, refine plans, and drive team execution through ambiguously defined situations. Guidance from peers and stakeholders is readily available.

  • Organizational Impact: The candidate will own and ensure overall Operations project execution. Results are accomplished by indirectly leading Extended Operations functions such as Supply Management, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Contract Manufacturing, Packaging & Labeling, Sterilization, Global Supply Chain, and Distribution functions.

  • Influence and Complexity: A successful candidate will be able to: 1) Apply best practices and lead meetings with internal/external stakeholders, 2) Communicate effectively to higher level management, 3) Solve issues through information exchange and influence, and 4) Gain cooperation of other functions on program objectives and plan execution.

  • Flexibility: A successful candidate may need to work with remote manufacturing plants (internal and external). Travel may be required for this role and is usually planned in advance to meet project needs with up to 25% domestic/international travel.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)


  • Bachelors degree required with minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in manufacturing and/or product development, or

  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have


  • Advanced degree in an Engineering discipline or Masters in Business Administration

  • Medical device product development and/or manufacturing experience and a strong understanding of FDA, ICH and IEC standards

  • Experience across the entire product lifecycle

  • DRM, DFSS or Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

  • PMP Certified

  • Proven Operations experience with depth of knowledge in at least one Operations function

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry (e.g. medical device, pharmaceutical, avionics, automotive)

  • Experience with problem solving methodologies

  • Experience with manufacturing process validation

  • Project engineering or program management experience in a new product development and/or manufacturing environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$136,000.00 - $204,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
