We are currently seeking a construction Estimator to join our Geotechnical Group. Reporting to direct office supervision, the Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the cost, time, materials, labor, and equipment required for a Geotechnical construction project. They will also perform cost analysis, determine duration of a project, procure vendors and subcontractors, and ensure resources are managed and deadlines are met. This role will be based out of our York, PA Corporate Office with occasional day trips to job sites. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction tasks and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines.
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Construction related field required. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Must be able to commute to the York, PA Corporate Office; day trip travel to job sites as needed. Reliable transportation is required. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Experience in Geotechnical (i.e. building and bridge foundations, earth retention systems, ground stabilization) and/or Heavy Civil preferred
Ability to develop relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors
Excellent math and analytical skills
Must possess a willingness to learn and be teachable
Must be able to set deadlines and manage time to meet deadlines.
Extensive computer work is required so good computer skills are necessary (e.g. e-mail, web browsers, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD). Training will be provided for HCSS.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend pre-bid meetings and job site visits.
Responsible for performing detailed take-offs and compiling data
Gather, calculate, and compile data for use on conceptual/bid proposal estimates, preparing bid packages and analysis of subcontractor bids for most trades.
Assist in preparing proposals for submission to potential clients, particularly for your assigned sections.
Maintain current accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contract and written material.
Assist in pricing and updating cost histories for estimating.
Responsible to ensure purchasing is complete for each assigned trade.
Responsible for maintaining subcontractor and vendor relations and communications within the market.
Follow standard Wagman format on estimates and proposals.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally.
Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
Must be able to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height.
Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.
