This role is responsible for preparing and delivering comprehensive technical training for Revenue and Support Vehicle employees. This role administers the Maintenance Certification Programs and conducts driver licensing training and testing. The position requires the development and implementation of training curricula, maintenance standards, and quality assurance procedures. Additionally, the role involves providing hands-on guidance to mechanics, collaborating with the engineering department, and supervising employees in various training programs. As a safety-sensitive position, it is subject to the rules and regulations of the Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Duties & Responsibilities:    
ESSENTIAL:


  • Provide technical training and orientation for bus maintenance, bus transportation, facilities maintenance, and other district sections or outside organizations.

  • Develop, maintain, and implement training curricula, schedules, materials; grade, and record performance.

  • Administer certification, licensing, skills development, and recruitment programs for the organization, acquiring necessary skills and licenses for proper administration.

  • Work with the engineering department on vehicle modifications and upgrades; develop maintenance standards, procedures, and bulletins.

  • Assist Quality Control in equipment and materials inspection and quality assurance.

  • Provides hands-on guidance to mechanics for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and bus repair across maintenance divisions, private contractors, and support groups.

  • Supervise employees in the Technical Training, New Hire, Helper/Apprenticeship, and ELDT Training Programs; conduct performance reviews and hold employees accountable in a union environment.

  • Communicate concepts and procedures for high voltage vehicles, assisting the engineering department in creating relevant bulletins and procedures.

  • Maintain a comprehensive technical reference library for maintenance, including digital versions for the organization's intranet; review and distributes manuals and documents to stakeholders.

  • Recruit staff, including interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:  


  • Associate degree in Automotive, Body Repair, or Diesel Technology from an accredited post-high school technical school or community college.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in bus or heavy vehicle maintenance or collision and body repair, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical concepts.

  • Minimum of one year of experience designing and facilitating technical training for adults or five years of experience in bus or heavy vehicle maintenance or collision and body repair in lieu of training experience.

  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL with P endorsement within 90 days of hire.

  • Certification in a professional vehicle maintenance program such as ASE, AATI, ICAR, Body Shop Certification, RTD Bus Maintenance Certification, or an equivalent program.

  • Proficiency in implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance Programs.

  • Ability to research, evaluate, and maintain updated knowledge of new technologies and equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems, determine causes, and recommend effective resolutions.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Sound judgement and effective time and workload management, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Sweet and fleet software products like Cummins Insite, ZF Testman, Allison, Meritor Wabco, and Dinex Vansco.

  • Proficiency in safety procedures, HAZMAT, and MSDS.

  • Ability to navigate Workday and Maximus within three months of hire.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Ability to stand and sit for an extended length of time and walk long distances for long periods of time on uneven terrain and icy ground

  •  Ability to work in a standard maintenance environment, which can include, but is not limited to, working with dust, dirt, gravel, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, and chemicals for an extended length of time as well as in various outdoor, sometimes extreme, weather conditions as required. Demonstrated ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, climb and work at heights up to 20 feet, access confined areas, push/pull up to 125 pounds, lift/carry up to 80 pounds, and horizontally move equipment weighing up to 90 pounds.

Pay Range:

$77,437.00 - $109,380.25 Annual
