Position: Senior Data Scientist
Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Research, design, and implement data models and cutting-edge algorithms on high-dimensional, fast-moving, unstructured, and structured data and other business intelligence data. Utilize cutting edge machine learning, data mining, and optimization algorithms to analyze all this data. Design, implement, and deploy machine learning models for assortment planning. Scale the Machine Learning models using Cloud Platforms (e.g., Dataflow, ML Engine, BigQuery, and Azure). Build continually learning systems that learn errors and will have a direct impact on business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for accurate predictions. Build compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards to showcase Wal-Mart's work internally and externally. Work with stakeholders from different backgrounds to transform analytics into business insights that provide value and form hypotheses. Conduct analysis to deliver findings in a structured way for business partners.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics or related field; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
Skills required: Experience with SQL and Python for the pre-processing of data and feature engineering. Experience using PySpark to scale models and for parallel processing to expedite runtimes. Experience setting up, building, and maintaining data pipelines: Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) and CI/CD. Experience with optimization modeling languages and solvers, including CPLEX, Pyomo, and Gurobi. Experience with decomposition approaches to solving large scale optimization problems. Experience with distributed event store and stream processing platforms, including Apache Kafka. Experience with programming frameworks and libraries of GCP, including Google Cloud SDK, Cloud Client Libraries, and Cloud APIs. Experience with data mining and Machine Learning to build analytical models. Experience using business intelligence tools, including Tableau and PowerBI. Experience using deep learning libraries, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras. Experience building and deploying optimization models. Experience with data wrangling using SQL. Experience creating business value in the process of building data science products. Experience defining analytical models for business problems. Experience with hyper parameter tuning of models to improve accuracies. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $168,154/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
