Choctaw Workforce Solutions (CWS) is seeking a qualified Internal Medicine/Family Practice Physician to join our team, working directly with Service Members (SMs) ensuring they are mission-ready and healthy. As a CWS Physician, you will provide essential care to SMs, supporting military readiness through screenings, diagnostics, and treatment plans. Whether evaluating soldiers for deployment, addressing post-deployment health concerns, or providing care during primary care rotations, your work will help maintain the health and well-being of those who serve our nation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Support Military Readiness and Well-being:
Evaluate SMs for Mobilization/Demobilization (MOB/DEMOB) to ensure they are medically prepared for deployment.
Perform health assessments using Health Risk Appraisal tools and deploy SOPs to streamline the process.
Monitor and reduce wait times, seeing four (4) to five (5) patients per hour for routine assessments; two (2) to three (3) patients per hour for in-depth evaluations.
Provide High-Quality Patient Care:
Conduct comprehensive medical exams, treatment, and diagnosis for adult patients, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and regulations.
Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests such as x-rays or labs, reviewing all abnormal results within one (1) week and initiating follow-up care as needed.
Coordinate with specialists and other healthcare professionals to ensure SMs have access to appropriate care.
Manage Cases and Ensure Accurate Documentation:
Use MHS Genesis to document each outpatient encounter within twenty-four (24) hours while maintaining complete, legible, and accurate records in accordance with MTF and DoD policies.
Participate in care conferences and peer reviews, contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement programs.
Track working hours in the Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi) as required.
Be a First Responder in Crisis Situations:
Respond to cardiopulmonary arrests and other medical emergencies promptly.
Collaborate with the medical commander and leadership teams to anticipate and resolve patient care challenges.
Utilize Telehealth Technologies:
Leverage telecommunications tools to provide remote health assessments, treatment, and consultations, ensuring continual care regardless of location.
Innovate by integrating telemedicine for follow-ups, diagnostics, and patient education.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical U.S. or Canadian medical school.
Foreign medical graduates must have permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or equivalent documentation.
Experience:
Completion of a residency program accredited by the ACGME or AOA.
At least one (1) year of experience working as a physician in the care of adult patients within the past year (residency counts).
Experience working in a high-demand clinical environment, demonstrating flexibility, critical thinking, and teamwork.
Licenses & Certifications:
Active DEA Registration and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Board certified or board eligible.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association (must be kept current).
Skills & Competencies:
Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage an extensive caseload in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with command personnel, healthcare teams, and SMs.
Proficient in telehealth technologies and virtual care platforms.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Location:
Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with additional potential assignments based on operational needs
Schedule:
Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations, flexibility is required to meet mission demands.
Telehealth:
May be required to provide remote services during public health emergencies or other contingencies.
