The hourly rate for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $36.35 - 44.55 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
We are looking for a Controls and Automation Engineering Technician to join our team at the Marysville Chemical Plant in Marysville, Ohio!
The Controls and Automation Engineering Technician will be responsible for providing direction and be able to execute the programming for, installation of, and technical troubleshooting support of PLC ladder-logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant as well as SCADA and MES software applications. The candidate should have skills with Allen Bradley Controls hardware, SCADA/MES software (Preferably Aveva) , AutoCad, Ethernet devices and Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL).
What you'll do in this role:
Design, deploy, and maintain HMI/SCADA/MES software applications.
Assist plant engineers with data acquisition and database configuration.
Read, restore, write and modify Allen Bradley (Control Logix, Compact Logix, PLC-5) PLC programs and via multiple communication protocols (serial, DH485, DH+, E-net, C-net, D-net, RS-485, RS-232, etc.).
Read, interpret and update electrical blueprints, schematics and flow diagrams.
Restore, modify and establish Allen Bradley VFD parameters.
Troubleshoot, repair and install electrical and electronic equipment and instrumentation.
Maintain records applicable to the job. Use CMMS to obtain spare parts, retrieve work orders and generate new work orders.
Communicate with outside contractors and vendors to identify necessary repairs and to oversee projects.
Record maintenance activities, develop and execute job plans, and communicate new procedures used in troubleshooting.
Provide leadership and serve as a technical resource to associates training in the electrical discipline.
Provide direction and be able to execute the programming for, installation of, and technical troubleshooting support of PLC ladder-logic based hardware and software applications throughout the plant
Provide controls and systems engineering support for emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production peak and off-peak run times as needed.
Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, machinery assembly drawings, create component hardware BOMs, and determine additional system/hardware components for the design of electrical control systems and circuit diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
Diagnose process and machinery problems utilizing root cause failure analysis techniques, replace or repair equipment parts, test and make adjustments as required
Perform related maintenance duties as required.
What you'll need to be successful:
3+ years of applicable engineering, IT, and/or operational experience
Demonstrated competence in automation/controls engineering related work
Demonstrated competence with Ethernet I/P controls networks
Knowledge of .Net or C# programming
Knowledge of MES systems and SQL database systems including queries and analysis
Demonstrated ability to execute complex projects, with focus on automation in fast-paced manufacturing environments
The ability to plan and organize by setting goals and priorities to accomplish results
Interpersonal communication skills are needed to communicate business and technical needs
