Urban Engineers is seeking an experienced transportation professional ready for their next career milestone and challenge - leading our Transportation Design Practice in Central Pennsylvania. Based in our Mechanicsburg office, the Transportation Practice Leader will be responsible for growing the transportation department with entry to mid-level staff and securing new project opportunities with PennDOT District 8-0 and other regional clients.
Responsibilities
Increasing transportation design headcount year-over-year, creating a diverse mix of experience levels and skill sets capable of meeting clients' transportation engineering needs.
Utilizing previous experience in PennDOT District 8-0 to help position and win new transportation opportunities to maintain the core and grow the Mechanicsburg Office transportation design practice. Work collaboratively with the other Pennsylvania offices for work sharing opportunities.
Being actively engaged in the industry through events and professional organizations to boost Urban's profile and name recognition in the region, support growth with a diversified client base and recruiting efforts.
Supervisor, train, and mentor staff.
Establish a department structure and provide communication to transportation design staff.
Dedicate time to fostering and maintaining client relationships throughout region.
Deliver projects that meet client and design standards.
Provide oversight on planning, directing, and coordinating activities of projects.
Oversee project goals and ensure objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Establish work plans, estimates, and coordinate multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of projects.
Provide subconsultant management.
Implement quality control practices during all phases of design and plan production for highway, bridge and/or traffic engineering projects.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
A minimum of 15 years of transportation related design experience related to highway, bridge and/or traffic engineering is required.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania.
Project Management experience.
Experience with PennDOT District 8-0; Other PennDOT Districts and/or PA Turnpike experience is preferred.
Technical understanding of design standards and specifications for highway, bridge and/or traffic engineering projects.
Working knowledge of Microstation and InRoads/OpenRoads.
Capable of making decisions, solving problems, and performing negotiations.
Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
Active engagement in professional organizations.
Able to travel for project related tasks and meetings.
