Who are we looking for?


The US West Environment Market is a critical component of GHD's overall growth strategy in Americas. The US West Region is looking to bring onboard a motivated Project Director to lead expansion of GHD's Contamination, Assessment and Remediation practice in the Pacific Northwest.


The Contamination Assessment & Remediation business focuses on the identification and investigation of contaminants and their impacts on soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor and gas. We also select, design and implement effective and sustainable remedial solutions for contaminated sites. We offer expertise with known and emerging contaminants such as hydrocarbons, solvents, PFAS, nutrients, metals, dioxins and furans, acidity and explosives.

Our clients are a mix of public and private organizations in the Petroleum, Oil, Gas, Government (Federal, State, Municipal), Chemical and Manufacturing, Mining, Energy, Transport, Emergency Services, Agriculture, Developers and Legal sectors.

As Project Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the CAR business in the Pacific Northwest in accordance with GHD North American and Region Business Plans. You will provide technical and delivery leadership of the CAR projects for our clients throughout the West. This position will work from Seattle or Portland.

Specific responsibilities in this role will include:


Winning Work:

  • Develop and execute business strategies and initiatives to expand environmental services to new clients, as aligned with the North American and Region Environment Market strategies
  • Identify market competitors with intelligence gathering and provide thorough and comprehensive strengths/weaknesses analyses
  • Identify and develop strategies to capture new business with major clients and includes business development, strategic initiatives, and sales development
  • Maintain a high profile externally and through membership/attendance in industry organizations, continually increasing contact base
  • Lead proposal development and contract negotiation to win targeted pursuits
  • Manage technical projects: maintaining client satisfaction while ensuring projects are delivered safely and within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Achieve goals identified for business development by working in coordination with Operations to successfully develop and win work
  • Perform data entry into Client Relationship Management database for lead tracking and opportunity information
  • Formulate and present proactive, strategic approaches to the proposal development process, which leverage the company's capabilities and value proposition
  • Build, grow and maintain an active list of large and/or strategic new prospects that will ensure the continuous growth of clients
  • Establish and develop strategic long-term relationships with current clients, new clients and prospective teaming partners

Project Delivery:

  • Leading best practice project delivery, making key technical contributions to projects and coordinating the work of team members to deliver creative solutions
  • Embracing established project management best practices and advocate for the adoption of standard methodologies within your sphere of influence at GHD
  • Directing the project teams, administering contractual aspects of the project, and have a client facing role
  • Working with project managers and project teams to improve job delivery skills within Business Group
  • Directing pricing, scoping and winning strategies for amendments and follow-on work
  • Ensure adherence to GHD's QA/QC plans including meeting established Quality KPIs

People:

  • Purpose Led communications to the Business Group to inspire the team and enhance Employee Experience (EX)
  • Collaborate and mentor with our Young Professionals to provide experience and exposure to a wide variety of projects
  • Collaborate within and outside the Region on work sharing and business development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science required, advanced degree preferred
  • Professional registration (PE, PG) preferred but not required
  • Minimum 15 years of environmental consulting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, capture planning and project execution for environmental clients and projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
  • Strong relationship leadership skills and a real passion for developing people within GHD
  • Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines
  • A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness

  • Experience and/or formal training with project management best practices

  • Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Salary Range: $132,000-$198,000 based on experience
