Petmate/Doskocil Mfg., Inc was founded in 1960 as an innovative manufacturer and supplier of crates and kennels used by the airline industry to transport pets. The Company is headquartered in Arlington, Texas, in the heart of the Dallas/Ft. Worth ‘Metroplex’. The Corporate Headquarters is located within walking distance to the iconic AT&T Stadium, home of the 5-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys, and The Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers baseball club. DFW Airport is also nearby. Our fulfillment center is located in Lancaster, Texas.

As Logistics Analyst, you will be given the opportunity to create and provide excellent service for our internal and external customers. To be successful, the candidate must be able to “get things done” and develop process capabilities within their functional areas and individual talent to support growth plans. This is an opportunity to assess current capabilities and implement needed continuous improvement efforts that impact Petmate’s strategic growth. The goal is to keep freight moving at best cost and best method while always keeping service at the forefront of your decisions.

POSITION SUMMARY

Petmate Logistic Analysts are responsible for coordinating all inbound and outbound domestic freight, ensuring on time deliveries while keeping freight costs down. Analyst will work with all carriers, including truckload, LTL, small parcel and expedited carriers to ensure that trailers are dropped in a timely manner to be loaded and/or live loads are picking up as scheduled. Assist other departments with transportation topics, questions, and resolutions. Continue to seek carrier selections that enhance our service to our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for routing all TL and LTL shipments. Routing is done in OTM (Oracle Transportation Mgmt), or in the customers routing portal, ensure carrier coverage and deliver by cancel date or in a timely manner. Always attempt to use the lowest cost carrier first. Build multi stop loads based on volume and cancel dates.

2. Obtain spot quotes on shipments that have less than standard lead time to meet cancel date.

3. Ensure new customer orders ship and deliver in a timely manner.

4. Work closely with shipping to make sure trucks are shipping as planned, required equipment is at Petmate, to coordinate and manage volume based on shipping’s capacity.

5. Maintain a strong rapport with all carriers. Make them aware of our month end, quarter end and year end expectations.

6. On occasion you will need to be available afterhours for any carrier/shipping issues that arise that will prevent a shipment from leaving Petmate on time or complete, this will include working Saturday’s at the fulfillment center.

7. Be able to work in a fast past, deadline and goal driven environment.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED

BUT NOT REQUIRED

1. Knowledge and experience of virtual Transportation Management programs.

2. Familiarity of shipping through 3PL or outside warehousing.

3. Improving carrier synergies with our customers.

4. Afterhours availability via phone, which may possibly require access to email and/or Oracle.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cross train on all logistics duties and responsibilities.

2. Overtime may be required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Transportation experience and/or Oracle Transportation Management software knowledge preferred by not required.

2. Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word processing software experience. Oracle experience is preferred.

3. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are a must.

4. Good organizational skills, multi-tasking, and ability to handle concerns and questions.

5. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.

6. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations and other employees of the organization.

7. A team player who helps colleagues in a positive manner to achieve the Department team’s goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods while talking to consumers or using computer. Must be able to communicate in writing, by telephone, or verbally. Work is done in an office environment. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds of office related material.
