Job Summary
The Indiana Memorial Union Facilities team is responsible for maintaining, fixing, and applying preventative work all across the nearly 500,000 square feet of this IU icon.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Keeps building and facilities in a clean and orderly condition.
Performs heavy cleaning duties such as cleans floors, shampoos rugs, washes walls and glass, and removes refuse.
Performs routine light maintenance activities, notifies management of need of repairs.
Services, supplies and cleans restrooms. Collects recyclables.
Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures. Moves and relocates furniture. Replaces lightbulbs. Mixes water and detergent or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Strip, seals, and polishes floors. Clears sidewalks, drives, and adjacent areas. Shovels snow.
Keeps custodial supply closet orderly and stocked with adequate chemicals, equipment, and toiletries. Locks and unlocks building. Maintains awareness of building and facilities. Identifies and reports needed repairs.

Working Conditions / Demands
This is a physically active position requiring mobility. Must have the ability to move and transfer equipment. This position requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Work Hours
1st shift - 5:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M., days depending on availability.
Position requires flexibility in work schedule and weekend coverage.
