MAIN FUNCTION:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing general maintenance and servicing functions throughout the hospital and on the hospital grounds.
This position reports to the Assistant Director, Maintenance and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform a variety of standard servicing and repair operations required to maintain the hospital's buildings, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds in proper condition. Perform such work as preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment, testing, replacing fuses and bulbs, clearing drains, repairing faucets, maintaining furniture, moving of equipment, snow removal, etc.
Carry out preventive maintenance programs as directed.
Provide general assistance to all maintenance trades including those possessing licenses or registrations.
Respond to security and life safety issues.
Maintain ability to work flexible shifts as needed.
Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
Attend meetings as required.
Perform other functions/duties as requested.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school or vocational school diploma or equivalent required
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification required within 90 days of hire.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a mechanical field required; healthcare background preferred
Demonstrated ability to work with computerized management systems required
