Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Part-time as Needed, Field Construction Manager, to join our Construction Management Team in Tampa, Florida! Initial project work may include pump stations, transmission lines, and control systems for water/wastewater infrastructure in Hillsboro County.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Field Construction Manager, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, SCADA systems, power generation, manufacturing facilities or other heavy construction projects. The Field Construction Manager will report to the Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Role accountabilities:

You will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews. You will also be responsible to prepare agendas and minutes as well as be in charge of the bi-weekly progress meetings.

The is a PTAN position, which means the hours assigned will vary depending on the workload in the area. While there are weeks when a full-time inspector is needed, there will be weeks of down time when no work will be available. This is ideal for an individual looking for that level of flexibility.

Other responsibilities include:


  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues.
  • Monitor and record material deliveries.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Review submittals and other construction documents.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes and maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
  • While performing daily inspections, inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis' project safety guidelines are being met.
  • Travel will be required to project sites, client meetings, safety audits, construction oversight, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • 10 years of mechanical/electrical/utility construction inspection/management experience.

Key Skills/Attributes

  • Demonstrated skills in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude.
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 20+ years experience with civil/mechanical, electrical, SCADA, and construction inspection activities on small to larger sized infrastructure construction projects.
  • NASSCO ITCP / PACP is a big plus.
  • ACI or NICET certification is a big plus.
  • OSHA 30 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
  • Engineering degree, PE or CM certification is preferred.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
