We are looking for a Facilities HVAC Refrigeration Technician to be responsible for the maintenance and improvements of multiple mechanical/HVAC/Refrigeration systems in San Diego, CA. The Maintenance Technician should be able to implement/support HVAC maintenance plans, system evaluations, repairing heating & ventilation, establish operational efficiency, experience in construction project environments and strong knowledge of HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing and Electrical code requirements.

This will be a 1st shift position: M-F

Responsibilities:


  • Under minimal supervision, conducts breakdown, repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC and other facilities equipment to ensure a use-ready state. Major equipment includes cold/freezer walk in Cold Storage Units (CSU) chiller systems including brazing of piping. Installs copper tubing and repairs pipes and tubing as necessary; tests joints and insulates pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems; flushes boilers, de-scales tubing and cuts and threads pipes; rebuilds pressure and temperature safety valves and water pumps.; air handler units, cooling towers, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) units, thermostats, electronic controllers, automatic switches, humidifier, dehumidifier, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high-limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves and automatic gas valves. and other refrigeration and heating systems.

  • Perform monitoring functions of facility temperature, relative humidity, and other basic HVAC and refrigerations settings/functions in Building Management System (BMS).

  • Maintains documents related to preventive maintenance, break-down maintenance, and work orders following Work Instructions (WI) and good GDP practices other guidelines and policies.

  • Ensure adequate inventory of replacement parts, suppliers and order replacements.

  • Exceptional knowledge of manufacturers' drawings and specifications, installation & layouts.

  • Perform all work in a manner that meets and follows HVAC and refrigeration codes, blueprints, and safety standards.

  • Support Facilities infrastructure, project implementations and maintenance upgrades providing input on project scopes of work, project punch list walks, reviews proposals, drawings and other documentation as needed to ensure successful execution while complying with specifications and applicable codes.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including Facilities Planning, and Project Management on various tasks and activities.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, including the workshop following good housekeeping practices consistently.

  • Monitors the work of outside contractors.

  • Travels between facilities to support all functional areas as required.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience with HVAC certification from an accredited institution

  • Knowledge of mechanical blueprints, schematics, diagrams, building codes and construction principles.

  • Experience in working with multiple teams and collaboration within multi-phased departments.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively resolve problems with technical personnel including department managers, supervisors, and outside technical support.

  • Prior knowledge of working within a GMP environment is a plus.

  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflect positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.

  • Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, kneel, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

  • Keep accurate work records and complete paperwork in a neat and timely manner.

  • Willing to work overtime and/or support unplanned activities as required.

  • Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports

  • Physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift, work on roofs and carry heavy loads, operate required equipment.

  • Able to work in close places such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.

The estimated base hourly range for the Facilities HVAC/R Specialist role based in the United States of America is: $29.66 - $44.47. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
