Children's Case Manager

Status:  Full-time


  • Qualifications:


    • BA/BS degree with an emphasis on Mental Health/Human Services OR Equivalent experience

    • Current and Valid Driver's License

    • Must be at least 21 years of age

    • Employee must successfully complete Case Management Certification as stipulated by the State of Kansas.

    • CPST Provider shall possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to work with SED children/adolescents/families and the ability to respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations

Work Location: Dodge City

The primary function of the child CPST Provider is to provide goal directed supports and solution focused interventions intended to achieve identified goals or objectives as set forth in the consumer's individualized treatment plan. CPST (Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment) is a face to face intervention with the consumer present; however, family or other collaterals may also be involved. These services are provided in agency, school, home and other community settings. The CPST Provider will understand that Community Based Services programming is constantly changing and will embrace flexibility and openness to change. The CPST provider is responsible administratively to the CBS Program Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:        

A BA/BS degree with an emphasis in mental health/human services  or be equivalently qualified by work experience or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education with one year experience substituting for one year of education.  CPST Provider shall possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to work with SED children/adolescents/families and the ability to respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations.  Must be 21 years of age and have a current and valid Kansas driver’s license.  Employee must successfully complete Case Management Certification as stipulated by the State of Kansas.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Employee is required to complete appropriate on-line certifications through Training Teams prior to billing of services.  Must attend Interactive Community Events (ICE) Training within six months of hire. Required to complete CPI, First Aid and CPR prior to providing a service in KDHE room.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and interaction with many different persons.  In addition, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License and be insurable under the Mental Health Center’s policy in order to operate a Center vehicle. The employee will interact with many different persons in varying stages of recovery from their mental illness.

 Dress Standards

 PURPOSE: To establish dress code and grooming guidelines in accordance with guidelines for Area Mental Health Center Community Support Services. We believe personal neatness and appropriate attire provide an atmosphere of professionalism and inspire confidence in the care we provide.


  1. Casual t-shirts with phrases or inappropriate graphics, tank tops, muscle shirts, jogging suits, distracting and revealing clothing are not appropriate for work.  Shirts and blouses should be buttoned so as not to expose undergarments or anatomy. Low necklines and see-through material are not acceptable. Shorts will be allowed but no shorter than the length of your arm hanging down. In addition no athletic shorts will be allowed. 

  2. A clean, neat and business-like appearance is expected (good hygiene and cleanliness of cloths). Avoid extreme or eccentric hairstyles, excessive make-up, clothing or jewelry that does not present a professional appearance. 

  3. Shoes should be appropriate for daily tasks. (Ex: no high heel shoes for sporting activities).  Flip Flops are not allowed.

  4. Body piercing should be limited to the earlobes.

  5. Clothing should be of suitable length to maintain modesty when working (i.e. skirts).

  6. Tight fitting or excessive loose fitting clothes are discouraged as they do not project a positive image.

  7. Tattoos should be concealed if possible.
