SUMMARY
The EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) Aerospace Medical Research Division, Environmental Physiology Division (AAM-631). Plays a significant role in providing EMT support for the Optimized Flow Oxygen System research project comprised of a series of on-site experimental sessions where subjects who will act like airplane passengers at pressure altitudes. Acts as a medical monitor for subject care, assesses the patient's condition, and provides necessary medical treatment. This position is On-Call with day-shift hours.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Oklahoma EMT certification.
Must have completed an accredited EMT training program.
Must have a valid State/Federal ID with picture.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Attends hypobaric research event(s) from start to finish.
Responds to emergencies and provides medical care to research subjects inside hypobaric chamber.
Assesses the patient's condition and provides necessary treatment, such as administering CPR and stabilizing the patient.
Safely transports patients to the hospital while providing ongoing medical care
Communicates with medical personnel at the hospital to provide a report on the patient's condition and treatment provided.
Completes necessary paperwork and documentation related to patient care

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of (1) years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Familiar with Baptist Hyperbaric Chamber, located at 3300 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112
Specialized experience in oxygen mask and oxygen system maintenance and use is desirable
Specialized experience in hypobaric chamber pressure-altitude flight is desirable
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and protocols
Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Physical stamina and strength to assist, lift, and carry patients
Ability to speak fluent English
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
