Job Description:

Post Doctoral.Post Doctoral.Associate
Med-Pharmacology and Chemical Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24008229)

The Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute (OPTIn) is searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Monga Lab to investigate repair and adaptive mechanisms in models of acute cholangiocyte or acute hepatocyte injury including dual deletion of catenins from cholangiocytes. Specifically, the incumbent will investigate the molecular and cellular basis of hepatocyte to cholangiocyte reprogramming. Alterations in bile acids and gut microbiome in various models may also be relevant in such models and may need to be investigated as well. This is a wonderful opportunity to work as part of a highly collaborative team to discern other relevant projects in the liver including zonation, development, regeneration and cancer. Additional duties include participation in lab meetings, assisting in writing papers and grants, making presentations in scientific meetings relevant to your research activities, and participation in the departmental seminars and journal clubs, as well as any other assignments requested by the Director of the Organ Pathobiology and Therapeutics Institute (OPTIn).

Necessary research skills include standard molecular and cellular biology techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience purifying proteins and performing biochemical assays. Prior human cell culture experience is desirable, but not required. In addition, candidates should have outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills and excellent written and oral skills. Salary is commensurate with experience and based on current NIH guidelines.

To apply for the position, qualified candidates with a PhD in genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, or a related area, should apply and attach a cover letter, CV, and the names and contact info for 3 references. Applications from women and minorities are strongly encouraged.
