Location: Holy Cross Health operates two hospitals and four healthcare centers, all within a short driving distance from Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD.
Reporting to: Health Center Nurse Manager
Role Overview:
Serves as patient advocate on billing issues, by assisting patients in finding best way to finance their health care. Stewards limited community benefit resources, by implementing financial assistance policy with fairness and accuracy. Resolves patient billing concerns via telephone, correspondence and in person. Investigates problems and complaints, and initiates resolution in professional and efficient manner. Adheres to mission standards, while acting in professional, diplomatic and tactful manner, when handling customers. Shows respect and compassion, while providing excellent service to all customers, co-workers and clients. Actively promotes healthy environment and core values. Supports Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.
Skills:
Bilingual or conversational Spanish is preferred.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Three (3) years of experience in accounting and medical claims management, preferably in hospital or physician office setting.
3. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
4. Thorough understanding of Medicaid, Medicare and other programs that can assist uninsured in paying for their health care services; prepared to interact with them and act as liaison for Holy Cross Health.
5. General knowledge of other-payer reimbursement.
6. Able to interpret clinical data sufficiently, to determine eligibility for various programs.
7. Must possess excellent auditing and analytical skills for reconciliation of accounts.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; general computer skills, including experience in e-mail and internet; familiarity with hospital accounting systems, preferably STAR and HealthQuest.
9. Excellent verbal and written skills, with ability to articulate information in clear and concise manner.
10. Able to interpret, read and work from computer reports and spreadsheets
Required Education and Certifications:
Pay Range:
$18.78-$26.29
Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
