Role Summary:
The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role will supervise a small team of accounting staff and will work closely with senior management to ensure all financial reporting is conducted effectively and on time.
Responsibilities:
Supervise, review, and manage accounting staff and daily operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate and oversee month-end and year-end close processes.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable maritime industry regulations.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing insights and support to senior management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiencies.
Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements in accounting workflows.
Support audits by preparing relevant documentation and liaising with auditors as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (ERP experience is a plus).
Prior experience in the maritime or transportation industry is a plus but not required.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage and mentor a team effectively.
