Position Summary


The Sales Shipyard Representative will provide onsite sales support for hydraulic controls (electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) in alignment with Sargent and/or customers' specifications. This role emphasizes substantial business development, focusing on identifying new opportunities and expanding our client base. You will maintain and strengthen customer relationships through proactive engagement. Your ability to leverage these interactions will be key in driving sales growth and ensuring customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison between customer demands and Sargent Operations, effectively translating customer demands to ensure optimal service delivery and support.
  • Coordinate the delivery of corporate solutions for complex shipyard technical challenges, collaborating with internal teams to address customer needs.
  • Conduct extensive travel to customer sites as required, often on short notice, to provide immediate support and ensure timely resolution of any requests for orders.
  • Pass on orders, inquiries and complaints to the home office.
  • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships through regular engagement and timely resolution of complaints to facilitate the solicitation of orders.
  • Check customer inventories, at no charge, for re-order purposes.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive networking, market research, and customer engagement strategies to drive sales growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: minimum of 10 years of experience in Naval Shipyards with many levels of shipyard organizations and Navy staff.
  • Education: GED / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field OR
    • Associate degree in related field plus 5 years of experience OR
    • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • 20 years of leadership/supervision experience
  • Must be retired from the US Navy submarine force with a minimum rank of E7 (preferred MM rating or other engineering rates)
  • Experience/proficient in Microsoft Office, technical documentation, reading complex technical drawings.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory Experience at two or more Naval shipyards.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field / Master's Degree preferred
  • Certifications/credentials/training i.e. PHR, Black Belt
  • Experience/ability ERP, Microsoft Office, GD&T, DQI, Blue Print etc.
