JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for leading the coordination, implementation and monitoring of work completed by the Finance and Accounting departments. This position oversees all company financial activities to ensure it stays in strong financial standing. Their main duties include building revenue reports, distributing calculated funds to various departments and implementing company financial policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure general accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
Responsible for budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, information systems, real estate activities for the organization and its subsidiaries.
Directs the Accounting Department procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports.
Responsible for the collection procedures for Accounts Receivable
Directs and coordinates the establishment of budget programs.
Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all price accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
Analyzes studies of general economic, business and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and procedures.
Prepares reports for regulatory agencies as necessary and required.
Oversees the interim and year-end financial audit.
Prepares all financial reports for the annual report.
Make sound investment decisions to increase a company’s portfolio
Prepare and outline complex models into simple terms that others can work with
Monitor the performance of investments including creating reports using business software
Analyze trends to reduce financial risks associated with spending decisions
Have a strong understanding of fiscal policy and investment regulations
Create usable budgets for the business, including evaluating the needs of each department in the long term
Offer advice to the CFO and CEO regarding spending and budget questions
Hire and oversee leaders in the finance and accounting departments, including giving directions and delivering periodical evaluations
Perform ad hoc projects as necessary
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
Minimum 8+ years of accounting experience with at least 4 years of supervisory or management experience (preferably a combination of public and industry accounting)
Must have experience using Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards or related enterprise system in a professional capacity
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of internal controls, best practices, and the ability to research and document accounting and financial topics required
Analytical skills, displaying an ability to gather, relate and compare data, and ensure data is reliable, accurate and complete
Detail orientation to ensure related tasks are completed timely and accurately
Thorough understanding of accounting procedures &GAAP
Ability to manage confidential information
Financial closing, consolidations, reporting, planning and project management experience preferred.
Position may require extended hours and work on weekends or holidays.
