Volt is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist in a manufacturing environment or structural shops in Otay Mesa!
As a Manual Machinist you will:
Producing high quality parts under minimal supervision from start to finish
Read, interpret and understand the drawing
Request raw materials through a very simple procurement system
Set-up the part, which may include making custom tooling, soft jaws etc
Choose the correct tooling, set appropriate feeds and speeds
Machine the parts to print
Inspect the parts to print
Maintain and keep the equipment and work area clean and organized
Maintain and replace tooling such as carbide inserts, drill bits etc
Occasionally operate fork lift or drive company vehicles.
Machinist candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration:
Minimum of 3 years as a machinist with MANUAL lathe and mill experience.
An ability to read and understand drawings with dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT&T).
Manual Vertical Mill (Knee Mill)
Manual Lathe Turning
Bandsaw (Horizontal and Vertical)
Use of hand tools including taps and dies
Use and knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers
Excellent language and communication skills
Basic math skills to be able to calculate bolt patterns, angles etc.
Tool sharpening and grinding
Shop Safety and Common Sense
Must be able to pass drug test and background check
The role is Monday-Friday 1st Shift and 2nd Shift:
Pay for this position is $22-$25/hr. DOE
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.

Conventional Mill
Conventional Lathe
Blueprint reading
Bandsaw
