Overview

The Manager - Project Management, Engineering serves as a pivotal leader in driving the successful execution of product development and implementation initiatives. This role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving standardized project management practices and processes across the engineering and cross-functional departments. As a subject matter expert, the manager mentors project teams in effectively defining scope, optimizing timelines, managing costs, and securing necessary approvals, all while adhering to established best practices.

This role acts as a central communication hub, providing regular, clear, and concise project status updates to the executive team, sponsors, and stakeholders. The manager is expected to offer valuable cross-functional insights on project and team performance, proactively identify potential obstacles, and collaborate with teams to develop effective solutions. Furthermore, the Manager - Project Management, Engineering is tasked with fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the project management function. This includes developing team members' skills, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring the department stays at the forefront of project management methodologies and tools.



Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of project managers, ensuring their professional development and optimal performance.
  • Oversee & align multiple projects with business objectives: help the management in selecting and prioritizing the projects aligned to Alliance strategic and tactical business objectives.
  • Refine & establish a project governance framework to have a structured approach to govern projects.
  • Develop and implement project management methodologies, best practices, and standardized processes across the engineering department.
  • Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, procurement, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage project portfolios, including resource allocation, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, and scope documents.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and provide timely updates to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Continuously improve project management processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the project management team.
  • Track all types of work, i.e., project work, non-project work, vacation, etc.
  • Track KPIs and provide forecasting related to the projects, programs, portfolios, resources, risks, etc.
  • Generate reports for different levels of management to help make timely decisions.
  • Serve as point of escalation for execution teams and helps to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, execute mitigation plans, develop detailed plans, perform resource allocations.
  • Build and maintain excellent relations with Alliance key stakeholders.


Qualifications



Education & Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent is required.
  • PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Master Certifications are highly desired.
  • At least 8 years of project management related experience.
    • Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects.
    • Proven success in employee development and leadership skills is required.
    • Experience in the design and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems, especially in the area of fluid flow, thermal systems, motors and drives, bearings, controls.

  • Have extensive experience of working with senior leadership.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive strategic direction and cross-functionally to deliver the best work product.
  • Proven ability to lead complex programs and relationships.
  • Ability to create and maintain a culture of accuracy, speed and agility
  • Very good decision making, self-motivation, and technical skills.
  • Strong problem solving and negotiations skills.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Intermediate level proficiency in project management software, advanced proficiency is highly desirable.
  • Highly analytical, and commercially aware.
  • Self-confident, excellent listener, attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and organize own workload.
  • Great interpersonal skills to collaborate with a wide diversity of colleagues in other disciplines and cultures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Confident in delivering business critical presentations to all levels including C suite.
