Location: Winchester, Virginia
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Identification of project opportunities, vetting of ideas, and leading/participating in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
* Ownership of Projects from start to finish:
* Engineering: user requirements, engineering specifications, test documents, RFP/RFQ, purchase agreements, acceptance criteria
* Financial: budget development, creation of capital authorization request documents, and execution/tracking of project spending
* Projects may often require independent decision making and exercising of judgment.
* Projects will be for a manufacturing environment and could include: automation/robotic material movement, processing equipment, process control systems, and facility automation systems
* Lead the various stages of the project such as requirements definition, design reviews, vendor selection, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, commissioning and qualification, and process validation
* Previous experience with complying with regulated environments (i.e. OSHA, EPA).
* Support businesses and functions with Proof of Concepts and use-cases
* Experience authoring and reviewing standard operating procedures, on-the-job-trainings, and other controlled documents.
* Coordinates meetings with stakeholders as required, generates agenda and minutes, maintains project calendars
* Requires working in an industrial manufacturing environment including wearing hearing and eye protection as other potential PPE gear as required.
* Frequent travel will be required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise salaried employees in the assigned department or on a project basis. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:
Education, Experience and Skills
* 4 year Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience
* 5-7 years as an engineer in an industrial environment
* At least 5 years of implementing automation projects, including robotics, in an industrial setting
* Completion of a variety of automation/robotics projects in an industrial setting
* Industry knowledge such as vendor contacts, common methods, terminology, an a breadth of knowledge both technical and non-technical, for a variety of end uses
* Demonstrated project management/leadership roles with complete project ownership
* Experience managing internal maintenance staff and external contractors on a project basis
* Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Personal computer skills in a networked environment, Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) required.
* Management style and duties must be consistent with and support AWC 2019 Vision and C.I.T.E. principles.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients/providers in an effort to coordinate team activities to support meeting the business objectives. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply statistical and mathematical concepts as related to problem analysis and corrective action.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize process and value stream mapping, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk around a shop floor environment, sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Typical office and plant manufacturing floor environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Out-of-town travel to other manufacturing locations to implement and lead engineering and maintenance activities is required.
