SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Terminal Manager with managing and overseeing activities relating to operations, fuel deliveries, sales, marketing, customer service, and equipment maintenance for Fairbanks.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Focus on day-to-day operations and safe execution of activities under the direction of the Terminal Manager. Ensure safe, reliable execution of activities that are in compliance with all regulatory and company standards. Manage and oversee employees' performance. Dispatch drivers and establish delivery routes, record times of departure, arrivals, type of fuel loaded and/or delivered. Complete montly mileage reports. Respond to, investigate, and implement corrective actions when incidents occur including entering into EHS. Oversee rail fuel operations including offloading, transport, and inventory. Monitor and troubleshoot issues with cardlock. Complete CMS checks and enter items into the system as needed. Communicate with drivers and customers via phone and other electronic means. Manage operational excellence on a day-to-day basis. The Assistant Terminal Manager will have direct reports. May require up to 35% driving throughout the year. Other duties as assigned by the Terminal Manager. Must be able and willing to be on call during non-business hours.EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred. Direct business experience may be substituted for degree.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years general business experience is required. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required. Experience relating to fuel sales and deliveries is preferred.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Advanced PC skills needed.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills. Ability to provide direction to staff and oversee projects that may vary in nature and scope. Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Strong attention to detail and able to multitask. Ability to deal directly with customers and other department personnel.
OTHER: Class A CDL with hazmat endorsement and med card required or ability to acquire these within 90 days of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. Pull hose from truck to customers tank up to 125 to 150 feet. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift and maneuver 50 plus pounds.
