Job Summary

The Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Sector Manager will manage a group of individuals in specific sectors ranging but not limited to water/wastewater, advanced technology, mining and/or power and aviation. The VDC Sector Manager will manage direct report Managers, VDC Engineers & Technicians under the assigned sector. This individual may also be the technical source of modeling information for various projects and must have a thorough knowledge of the construction documents, specification, and shop drawings within the sector. The VDC Sector Manager will also foster and maintain a working relationship with owners, subcontractors and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist when needed on BIM/field layout processes for projects.
2. Champions team on how to model and assemble 3D content provided by designers and trade contractors.
3. Champions the VDC process and activities to support assigned projects.
4. Champions the change process and incorporates into all project models. Tracks and communicates schedule and budget impacts to operations teams in a timely manner.
5. Identifies VDC/self-perform scopes of work and supports VDC self-perform processes.
6. Implements and leads project specific VDC strategy to meet overall objectives and goals.
7. Leads design and project teams through VDC process on multiple large projects.
8. Manages updates and maintains a productive and efficient BIM process.
9. Meets with project teams on-site at least monthly to insure that BIM efforts are being utilized in the field during construction and that project teams are receiving the necessary support from VDC personnel.

10. Partners with cross functional teams by providing support for model-based support and solutions.
11. Provides BIM technical support to internal project VDC teams.
12. Reads and interprets owner requirements, BIM execution plans, front end scopes of work, and makes sure minimum project requirements and budgets are met.
13. Responsible for overseeing the VDC processes based on group standards and sector needs.
14. Supports and collaborates with VDC Division Manger to ensure general VDC services, deliverables, and schedules are maintained to meet project objectives.
15. Supports and trains direct reports on modeling and providing documents necessary to complete scope as determined with VDC leadership and project teams.
16. Supports and trains direct supports on creating and maintaining clear and effective project documentation; meeting agendas, meeting minutes, constraint logs and RFI process.
17. Understands and interprets shop drawings, submittal, product data to be able to train VDC team on incorporating all necessary items into the VDC process.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. Ability to interpret BIM project requirements and apply to VDC processes.
2. Advanced skills with Autodesk ACC Doc, Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks preferred.
3. Construction Management, Business, or Engineering related degree.
4. Industry certifications and practitioners' licenses preferred.
5. Minimum of 7 years related Project VDC experience in specific sector required.
6. Must have the ability to travel based on project support needs.
7. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.

1. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
2. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
3. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
4. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
6. Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
7. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
8. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.
9. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
10. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
