Research mechanical systems, applicable leading-edge technologies, and latest developments to secure fundamental knowledge that will enhance market position; recommend implementation in new and existing products.
Develop highly detailed finite element models and reports for structural analysis for new component designs created within the Research group as well as Product Engineering. Propose design modifications to Product Engineering based on the results of the finite element analyses performed in order to optimize the strength and manufacturability of the new component. This is accomplished by utilizing proven engineering methods as well as topology optimization within the finite element analyses.
Perform fatigue analyses on new component designs prior to prototyping to ensure robust design. This can be done inside of finite element analysis software and by utilizing proven classical fatigue analysis methods.
Model untried systems / components utilizing computer programming, detailed mathematical models and dynamic simulation software to validate designs.
Perform tests and develop computer programs to build material characteristics models for FEA base on the test data.
Work through research projects / development programs and analyze data utilizing a Systems Engineering process. Work with our product engineering team to develop new components.
Design and develop components and systems utilizing classical engineering techniques, finite element analysis and advanced numerical methods; conduct laboratory and on-track testing and validation; recommend product performance and reliability improvements.
Prepare detailed technical reports, product requirements documents and proposals; prepare automated data extraction outputs to provide insight into component performance for use in analysis and reports. Work and travel with our Marketing and Sales groups on foreign programs.
Interact with customer's technical representatives to gather requirements and technical modeling data; develop and optimize dynamic modeling processes. Build a working relationship with component suppliers.
Collaborate within a group of engineers on innovation projects and prototype programs.
Perform other assigned duties as determined by the manager.
The employee is required to travel internationally up to 10% of the time.
