About the Team:

AT&T is seeking a talented and experienced principal architect to join our platform architecture team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in E2E platform architecture & infrastructure design, cloud and on-premises system design, and a proven track record of leading teams of application architects.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Define technical solutions and ensures alignment and provides technical leadership for the evolving architectural capabilities of the entire platform
  • Work closely with the enterprise architects and system engineers to ensure that individual program and product strategies align with business and technical objectives
  • Facilitate important design decisions for development teams, local authority
  • Work with customers, stakeholders, and development teams to define high-level solution
  • Determine the primary components and subsystems and analyze technical trade-offs
  • Identify interfaces and collaborations between them, define higher-level functional & nonfunctional requirements (NFRs)
  • Defines a shared technical and architectural vision focused on creating technical alignment for the full solution rather than concerns for specific components
  • Work with portfolio stakeholders, customers, enterprise architects, system engineers and development teams to align the architectural direction
  • Establish incremental implementation strategy and technical foundation for the architectural runway; Abstraction and generalization to preserve architectural flexibility
  • Ensure that common technology, design practices, and infrastructure are used when applicable; and facilitate the reuse of code, components, and proven patterns
  • Influence common modeling, design, and coding practices.


Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in working in Architecture, Engineering or Development roles in a Java and Open Source environment.
  • Ideally 8+ years of experience in architecture and design of systems using
    microservices architecture.
  • Ability to evaluate current and emerging technologies to select or recommend the best solutions for the future state architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture, applications, and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., Azure cloud, open source in Python, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Machine learning and recommendation architecture engine experience is a plus
  • Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

Our Principal Software Engineering, earns between $141,300.00-$211,900.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
