Summary Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment and physical structures in industrial establishments and uses appropriate equipment to create and make tooling to match part drawings by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment; Detects malfunction in equipment; Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tooling.
  • Able to read comprehend mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other schematics.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to pass a driver's exam to operate a forklift. Must be able to operate man lift. Must have valid driver’s license to drive company vehicles. Must provide their own tools (see tool list below).

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship; five to ten years minimum manufacturing maintenance experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

HMI experience preferred; Microsoft Word and Excel;

Uniforms

Atlas will cover the costs of uniforms (shirts and pants) required for this position.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

An Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus. Licensed to work with high voltage electrics.

Other Skills, Qualifications and Abilities

Fastener equipment experience a plus. Ability to: operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts; Fabricate and repair tables, benches, partitions, and other structures; perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines; Prepare requisitions for items to be purchased or repaired; Must be able to pass a driver's exam to operate a forklift. Must have valid driver’s license to drive company vehicles. Must pass a physical exam. Must be able to work late when needed.

The employee must consistently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with heavier weight necessary at times. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. Must be able to operate a fork lift. Respirator use may be required occasionally. Must be able to pass a respiratory exam.
