Job summary
Sanitation Technicians are responsible for cleaning the plant and equipment in accordance with Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP's). Work requires that the team member be able to perform heavy manual work continuously over an extended period of time.
Summary of essential job functions
• Picks up meat scraps and bones and disposes of in offal trailer.
• Picks up loose trash and disposes of in garbage truck.
• Cleans equipment and plant with high pressure hoses and cleaning chemicals.
• Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
• Act as key trainer for on-the-job training of new team members.
• Maintain and promote team member interest in safety.
• Help supervisors and leads with safety awareness, including informing supervisors of unsafe practices observed.
• Promoting company culture of respect for all team members at all times and notifying the plant manager when observing conduct that violates this culture or company policies.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of safety and lock-out procedures for various pieces of equipment.
• Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
Minimum requirements
• Manual dexterity required for cleaning equipment.
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), and smock. Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.
