Do you have experience in psychology or social work and want to help juveniles and their families through mental health and substance use issues?


Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as the Juvenile Court Clinician in the newly launching Hampden County Family Treatment Court program called PATHS (Prevention and Treatment for the Health and Safety of Children and Families)!



Your experience, knowledge and skills will support the Family Treatment Court's PATHS program with the following:


  • Conducting comprehensive, trauma informed assessments of children/adolescents and families to guide clinical treatment and help inform the treatment court team service planning.

  • Providing comprehensive court evaluations with clinical formulations and recommendations based on sound clinical principals and judgment.

  • Assessing the child's social and psychological well-being through observation, interview, assessment tools, and play-based activities.

  • Presenting a comprehensive picture of individuals being evaluated by obtaining information from collateral sources.

  • Providing psychoeducational groups for youth and for caregivers.

  • Consulting with judges, attorneys (including DCF attorneys), and probation officers regarding substance use and mental health issues in the family.

  • Discussing causes of challenges and solutions with caregivers, teachers, and other school personnel.

  • Connecting individuals to family benefits and entitlements issues (i.e., SNAP) and to other family/child support services (i.e., therapy, childcare, or parenting classes).

  • Serving as liaison between child, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts to coordinate ongoing clinical and other services.

  • Coordinating relevant substance use treatment services and other services, like inpatient psychiatric care, when acute or intensive services are needed.

PATHS, a programmatic enhancement of Hampden County's Family Treatment Court, was designed to improve the safety and wellbeing of children and families primarily affected by substance use disorder. PATHS stands for the Prevention and Treatment for the Health and Stability of Children & Families, and it is funded by the Massachusetts Trial Court as well as state and national contributors.

What are we looking for in the Juvenile Court Clinician?

  • Master's Degree in clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (required).

  • At least 3-5 years of clinical work experience with children and families (required).

  • Independent licensure (LICSW, LMHC, Ph.D, Psy.D) (required).

  • Knowledge of appropriate therapeutic approaches and work with DCF and/or the courts.

  • Ability to provide services in family-centered context.

  • Willingness and ability to treat challenging and diverse populations.

  • Cultural competence in dealing with individuals served with a variety of different cultural backgrounds.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Valid driver's license and a reliable registered & insured vehicle for all working hours (required).

  • Hybrid position 3 days in office, 2 days work remotely.
