Course Description - PUBSRV 1310 - Diversity Issues in Public Service
Understanding and managing diversity in complex public service settings is a key challenge for government and nonprofit managers. This course provides the background knowledge and skills needed to manage public service organizations and decrease barriers to participation in an increasingly diverse society. Drawing on the experiences of society’s minority or disadvantaged groups (based on race, age, gender, or disability), students will be exposed to multiple perspectives on the nature of public service.
Interested applicants should submit a CV, including contact information for three professional references, and a brief letter of interest that includes discussion of teaching interests. Please include if you have post-secondary teaching experience, especially in an undergraduate, online modality. While all applications must be submitted through Talent Center, informal inquiries about the course should be directed to Dr. George Dougherty, Public Service Program Director and Associate Professor, at gwdjr@pitt.edu.
