General Summary

Highline College is currently inviting applications for adjunct clinical faculty for the 2022-23 academic year. Seeking dynamic candidates who will demonstrate the ability to use equity-minded approaches to teaching and learning for racially, ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse students, including designing curriculum, pedagogy, and assessments relevant to students; valuing what students already know; and empowering students to demonstrate knowledge in multiple ways as appropriate for the discipline and program. The successful candidate will work in direct patient care clinical settings with students, virtual simulation classrooms, face-to-face simulation, and skills lab instruction, or some combination thereof. This position works under the guidance of a lead faculty and the supervision of the Nursing Program Director. Clinical shifts and lab classes generally fall on Mondays and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays depending on the course taught and clinical placement. The position requires employees to travel to clinical sites and may include day, evening, and/or weekend shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PART-TIME FACULTY:




  • Provide instruction, supervision, and evaluation for students in the clinical setting;

  • Ensure course activities are consistent with program guidelines;

  • Complete Canvas training modules and be able to teach within this learning platform;

  • Maintain communication with students, faculty, and program director;

  • Maintain current unencumbered WA licensure for Registered Nursing;

  • Pursue professional development to stay current in the field of nursing and nursing education;

  • Comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations;

  • Maintain and submit institutional and state records and reports on a timely basis;

  • Maintain a standard of honest and ethical behavior;

  • Assume reasonable responsibility for care and safe-keeping of College supplies and equipment.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing;

  • Unencumbered Washington State registered nursing license;

  • Current clinical experience as an RN;

  • Current Health Care Provider BLS certification;

  • Current Immunizations, TB test.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:




  • MN or MSN in a health-related field or enrolled in a graduate nursing program;

  • Prior teaching experience;

  • Experience with simulation.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary will depend on education level, experience as an RN and/or teacher, and number of hours worked. The current salary range per credit hour is $1,349.15 to $1423.19. This is a union represented position subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary, retirement, medical and insurance benefits are provided in accordance with state regulations and may be subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements. Conditions of Employment:
