Job Description: Mantis Innovation Senior Staff Accountant Greenwood Village, CO Finance & Accounting – General Ledger Accounting / Full-Time / Hybrid

GENERAL PURPOSE: AP/GL Accountant This role combines the tools of collaboration and diligence to conduct financial and administrative services within the accounting team. This position requires a very high degree of communication abilities and interaction with all employees of Mantis. The Staff Accountant owns the general ledger and accounts payable functions and has a keen eye for identifying discrepancies and thrives in an environment where they are empowered to find solutions. This role will report into our gorgeous Greenwood Village office, working a hybrid schedule- to include Monday and Fridays as work from home days, and Tuesday-Thursday reporting into the office.
AP/GL Accountant
Assist with monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and various general ledger accounts
Review vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and adherence to company policies, paying particular attention to reasonableness
Train employees on expense report guidelines and best practices
Secure/verify approvals on all invoices, expense reports and check requests
Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers (project tasks) by analyzing invoices and expense reports, and recording entries
Credit card transaction imports and reconciliations
Support Controller with Sales and Use tax accruals and filing
Troubleshoot any and all AP related discrepancies
Calculate and record sales & use tax liabilities during invoice/expense report review
Correlate purchase orders and packing slips to invoices as necessary
Reconcile vendor statements
Complete credit applications as requested by vendors to establish credit limits
Maintain vendor 1099s
Assist with month-end accruals and support project accounting with periodic reporting
Research and recommend programs, policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounts payable function, including internal controls and customer service
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Support the Controller with budgeting and forecasting activities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
4+ yrs experience in staff accounting, general ledger accounting, or related field
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
Exceptional competency with accounting software
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Advanced communication skills, verbal & written
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in project accounting and/or working in a construction/engineering firm
Experience as a key contributor of a team within a growing company
Prior leadership experience a plus
8+ yrs experience in staff accounting, general ledger accounting, or related field
