Location: San Antonio, Texas
The Facilities team at Texas Biomed is looking for a Project Engineer to lead planning and design activity in support of site-wide campus facility needs, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, chemical, etc. The Project Engineer will represent TX Biomed in engineering, also supporting new building design and construction, facility reconfiguration/renovation, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, infrastructure, and other facilities.
THE ROLE:
· Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, external requirements, required completion date, and solution feasibility and estimated cost.
· Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
· Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
· Develop budgets, estimating labor, material, and construction costs.
· Assist the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects.
· Review and submit proposals, plans, or designs related to facility repair and improvement projects and systems.
· Plan the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, or repair of facilities or equipment.
· Support maintenance department staff with technical analysis and recommendations.
· Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential engineering studies or projects.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical/electrical/civil preferred)
· 10 years of job specific experience required
· Possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish:
- Evaluate the environmental impacts of proposed engineering and architecture projects and activities.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and requirements.
- Identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies for civil engineering projects.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make
recommendations to maintenance crew.
