Overview

Direct and oversee all phases of plant maintenance to ensure the safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective production of quality products to serve our customers.



Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of all Shop and E&I Maintenance activities. Complete employee evaluations, resolve employee problems and disciplinary issues in accordance with the Union contract. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Oversee and ensure development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive safety program in assigned area.
  • Determine staffing needs and manpower requirements, plan and arrange for staff development and training based on appropriate skills assessment to ensure effective work assignments.
  • Work in conjunction with maintenance planning and operations to maximize maintenance productivity and improve schedule attainment while minimizing impacts to plant operations.
  • Provide guidance and direction to maintenance staff to resolve problems, promote accountability, and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Conceive, develop, and implement ongoing cost containment/improvement initiatives including:
    • Capital and general expense reduction
    • Employee productivity improvement
    • Completion of weekly cost forecasts to meet budget targets


Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • 7+ years relevant work experience

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • BS degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in supervisory/management position

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of process equipment operation and applications.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of piping/electrical systems, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the budgeting process in a plant environment.
  • Demonstrates understanding of OSHA regulations and a basic knowledge of local and state regulations concerning plant operation and construction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of labor laws.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective presentation, facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Able to visualize the “Big Picture” while focusing on details to complete projects.
  • Able to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy with regard to Afton’s routine applications and is able to use appropriate software to solve engineering problems.
