To direct and promote continuous improvement and best practices in all aspects of Distribution Operations, under the direction of the Distribution Supervisor and Manager. Support site specific Air & Ocean Container Freight Stations (CFS), Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), Distribution, Cross-border and all Interdepartmental Distribution Products. This is achieved through meeting internal company Key Performance Indexes (KPIs) and exceeding customer's service expectations, all the while operating in a safe and company compliant manner.
Organize workloads to maximize efficiency by ensuring profit margins set by FedEx Trade Networks are met.
Works with supervisor and/or manager in anticipating and/or identifying any existing problems with team members productivity/performance and also with the team as a whole with regard to workflow and productivity output.
Implement special projects for customers by: organizing and leading full time/part-time/temporary labor; physically setting up the flow of the project and following through entire project to ensure customer expectations are met.
Assist with the safety and security of the warehouse inventory and safety of associates by complying with all related government regulations including: OSHA, state and local fire department, us dot, hazardous materials, customs border patrol and homeland security regulations.
Assist the supervisor-manager-distribution in supervising the warehousing, distribution and customer service personnel.
Provide direction and guidance to team members by answering questions on any specific work-related issue(s) or problem(s).
Make professional recommendations to management regarding continuous constructive work-related activities that would further enhance or improve workflow production and results.
Understand implementation of FedEx Trade Networks standard operating procedures (sop), working with associates to insure that these standards are being maintained throughout the department/facility.
Review incoming/outgoing documentation from internal and external associates to ensure accuracy prior to distribution to related parties.
Develop/review rates for distribution activities.
Communicate serious client problems, freight movement delays or misroutes to the management team immediately upon awareness.
Liaison to Supervisor or Manager
Special Project "Lead"
Develops/reviews costing for all Distribution Operational activities.
Advise Supervisors and local Management of safety issues or equipment/building concerns.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
High school diploma/GED
Five (5) years of relevant Distribution or related experience
Five (5) years or more of International Freight Forwarding Distribution Operations experience preferred
Thorough knowledge of distribution activities.
Excellent communication and comprehension skills.
Excellent organizational skills for freight compliance.
Ability to be certified on all Machine Handling Equipment (MHEs) within the facility. This includes forklifts, pickers and reach-trucks, both propane and electric, and to operate these in a safe and compliant manor
Strong math skills.
Ability to use good safety judgment.
Ability to lift 30 lbs. regularly and more with appropriate assistance.
Ability to work within a schedule and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
A self-starter and detail oriented.
When applicable, must be licensed to operate a vehicle and comply with all state and federal DOT regulations which include passing a physical and being 21 years of age.
When applicable, must have valid travel documentation (i.e. Passport) in order to cross the border.
Must complete and pass the certified DG Specialist training
TSA Certified for operating within a CCSF (site specific)
Certified Cargo Screener in both x-ray & Ion scan 500DT (site specific)
Knowledgeable and able to Lead in all aspects of CFS and/or FTZ Operations (site specific)
Certified to operate Yard Hostler (site specific)
Understands relevance of C-TPAT Verification
Understands relevance and applicability of FDA Registrations
Advanced knowledge of US Air Export / Import Gateway (site specific)
Preferred Qualifications: Normal Shift hours are 9am to 6pm Monday - Friday. Five (5) years or more of International Freight Forwarding Distribution Operations experience preferred .
