The University of Richmond is a top 20 national liberal arts college that prepares its nearly 4000 students "to live lives of purpose, thoughtful inquiry, and responsible leadership in a global and pluralistic society." A private university located just a short drive from downtown Richmond, Virginia, the university combines the best qualities of a small liberal arts college and a large university through its five schools and wide array of campus programming. Under Richmond's "teacher-scholar" model, professors teach undergraduate courses, author peer-reviewed scholarship, mentor student researchers, and participate in departmental and university governance. The University of Richmond is committed to developing a diverse workforce and student body, and to modeling an inclusive campus community that values the expression of difference in ways that promote excellence in teaching, learning, personal development, and institutional success. Our academic community strongly encourages applications that are in keeping with this commitment.

The research statement should describe the applicant's research area(s) and plans, including plans for meaningfully involving undergraduate students in research. Applicants will also be asked to provide the names and contact information for three references who may be asked, at a later date, to submit letters of recommendation. Review of applications will commence on September 30, 2024, and continue until the position is filled. Please address any questions about the position to department chair Dr. Rick Mayes (bmayes@richmond.edu).
