Hours: Monday - Friday 2pm-10:30pm, weekend and holiday rotations are required.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Policy- Participate in the development, maintenance, and/or revision of policies, procedures, and/or manuals.



  • Lab Specific Duties- Tissue processing, embedding, microtomy (paraffin and frozen sections). May qualify for tissue grossing under CLIA. Advanced understanding of special histochemical stains and troubleshooting. Advanced knowledge of identification of tissue types, artifacts, etc. Advanced experience with Cytology preparations and staining. Experience with Immunohistochemistry and other advanced staining. Work collaboratively/cooperatively with others to achieve goals. Proactively adjust one's style and/or efforts to complement those of others. Develop positive working relationships with peers/colleagues. Share knowledge and/or provide support for team members. Contribute to and promote a positive and professional work environment/atmosphere. May serve as a liaison within the division or organization.



  • Communication- Effectively demonstrate communication skills related to conveying relevant information. Develop and maintain efficient internal communication processes to support the activities of the department/program. Openly communicate across many departments regarding clinical, patient care, physical and/or material resources. Keep key leadership, administrative staff and other stakeholders fully informed of projected and actual developments in a timely manner. Prioritize multiple requests for information. Assemble and distribute material for project communications if necessary.



  • Compliance- Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, such as JCAHO, HIPAA, and/or other accreditation standards. Design and/or implement programs, policies, and/or procedures to ensure compliance. Track laws and regulations that might affect policies and procedures. May prepare compliance reports and communicate results as necessary.



  • Equipment Maintenance- Assist with maintenance of various pieces of equipment. Help maintain/order inventory. Keep work environment well-organized. May troubleshoot and/or correct erroneous results or problems with equipment. May provide appropriate safety/quality monitoring checks and document as assigned.





JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field


  • 4+ years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Histology Tech (ASCP) Certification
