We are currently searching for Metrology Specialist to join our team.



Position Summary:



Working within the Zoetis Maintenance Organization environment, performs preventative maintenance, modifications, installations, and maintenance of Analytical Systems including but not limited to; Liquid Gas Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Dissolution, FT-IR, Spectrophotometers, balances, and scales. The Specialist is responsible for documenting work, in a GMP compliant manner, using the appropriate maintenance management software. They possess the expertise and are highly capable of performing troubleshooting, diagnostics, assembly, and repair of systems in a laboratory or production environment including measurements of pressure, level, flow, temperature and others.



Position Responsibilities:



Near-term) Responsibilities in a Startup Environment: In a startup environment, the Metrology Specialist will adapt quickly to changes, lead in developing and optimizing new processes, and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing inventory and resources efficiently, and troubleshooting unexpected challenges. You will also contribute to scaling Lab processes and Method Transfers, participate in diverse tasks to support the dynamic needs of the startup, and ensure the sustainability and scalability of all procedures as the company grows. Specific activities would include FAT, SAT, CQV, media fills and engineering runs.




  • Disassembles, inspects, repairs, calibrates, tests, and performs periodic preventive maintenance of specialty equipment, systems and controls.

  • Operates such electronic test equipment as pressure sensing devices, decade boxes, and the use of standards such as but not limited to: spectro-standards, temperature standards, mass standards. May also use multi-meters, frequency generators, counters, and digital logic probes.

  • Inspects, evaluates, and determines necessary modification, performs complex repairs or removal of instruments or devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot/service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work.

  • Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines, as well as applicable regulatory standards, such as current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs)

  • Records and reports abnormal function or out of tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation.

  • Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair and operation of equipment as necessary and coordinates with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements.

  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to Metrology and related processes.

  • Performs work in accordance with approved equipment, calibration, maintenance, and safety procedures.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • SHIFT HOURS: 7:00am-3:30pm Overtime may be occasionally required.




Education and Experience:



High school diploma or equivalent is required (Associate Degree (preferred)), and/or comprehensive, advanced, broad or in-depth specialized technical, manufacturing, or maintenance/Analytical repair skills with 3+ years related experience.



Technical Skills and Competence Required:



  • Possess good understanding of the pharmaceutical/bio-technology industry and operations of the organization along with technical proficiency.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in relevant technical areas. Solid understanding of GMP manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities.

  • Good communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact with all levels of the Zoetis organization. Can articulate issues and solutions to the team. Can produce effective project reports and presentations.

  • Position requires daily or frequent interaction with Engineering Director, Maintenance Manager, Production Management and Supervision, Engineers, Quality Operations, Maintenance Technicians, Production Operators, Contractors, and Vendors.

  • Can analyze problems and provide support in determining appropriate corrective and preventative actions, with minimal assistance.

  • Capable of simultaneously managing multiple assignments. Prioritizes own work. Flexible and responsive to changes.

  • Familiarity with a computerized maintenance management software system preferred namely SAP.

  • Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
