The schedule will be flexible and scheduled on an as-needed basis between August - May, averaging 100 hours per semester
Working closely with the Eisner Center production manager, the stage manager will provide support at rehearsals, concerts, and performances, as well as be a resource for the student production staff. The Eisner Center, the producing partner for Denison's departments of Music, Theatre, & Dance, is home to over 100 performances per year, and the stage managers will ensure that performances run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
The Stage Manager will run performances and rehearsals in multiple performance spaces, while paid student staff members work as stagehands and run the light and audio consoles. They will help students follow their checklists, assist with questions (both technical and procedural) and aid in problem-solving during live events as necessary. The stage manager will interpret advance information provided by the production manager and ensure specific show needs and potential complications are addressed. The Stage Manager will complete performance and rehearsal reports to ensure the communication of production details.
-At least one year of documented experience working professionally in music, dance, and/or theatre production
-Ability to learn and retain Eisner Center procedures
-Ability to pick up light and sound console use with training
-Two plus years of documented experience working professionally in music, dance and/or theatre production
-Experience stage managing live events
-Experience with teaching/training
-Intermediate knowledge of light and digital audio consoles
-Facility with college-aged students
Extended sitting, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs, occasional loud environments
